Restorations with CEREC®

Thanks to CEREC, we are able to provide our patients with inlays, onlays, crowns and bridges in only one appointment. CEREC is a method used by thousands of dentists worldwide since 1987, utilizing CAD/CAM technology, to completely replace fillings, or restore any tooth that is decayed, weakened, broken, etc. to its natural strength and beauty.  Over 250 scientific studies have confirmed the clinical safety of tried and tested CEREC tooth restorations. Worldwide, more than 30 million tooth restorations have been produced with CEREC.

If a CEREC restoration is called for, the procedure will begin with Dr. Gagnon preparing your tooth for the restoration by removing decayed and weakened tooth tissue. She will then take an Optical Impression of the prepared tooth. Instead of filling a tray with impression material that you must bite into and hold in your mouth until it hardens, your tooth will be coated with a non-toxic, tasteless powder. A camera is then used to take a digital image of your prepared tooth, and takes only a minute or two.  The CEREC 3D software takes the digital image and converts it into a 3-dimensional virtual model, which Dr. Gagnon then manipulates to perfect the design of the restoration. At the click of a button, the design data is sent to the milling machine, located in the office, where a ceramic block matched to your original tooth color is shaped into a beautiful restoration.  The restoration is then checked for fit, any small adjustments are made, and the restoration is bonded to the tooth.  This entire procedure is completed in one visit and no “temporary” crown is required.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are designed to fill gaps created by missing teeth. A bridge often consists of two crowns that fit on the teeth on either side of the gap and an artificial tooth that fits perfectly into the empty space between. This creates a uniform row of natural-looking teeth. Bridges are non-removable and usually composed of a combination of metal and ceramic (porcelain) materials. A dental bridge is one of many options to replace teeth, which look natural and will also bring back the integrity of your bite, so you can eat with comfort.

Dental Implants

If you are missing one or more teeth, dental implants can provide you with a natural-looking, highly functional alternative to bridges. Dental implants use a surgically placed “titanium root” capped by a natural-looking aesthetic crown. You have the ability to floss around the implant crown, and it is most like a natural tooth. These restorations are ideal in situations where there is adequate bone and space to place the implant.

Dentures

Dentures, either full or partial, are removable restorations, sometimes with clasps that utilize the remaining natural teeth or implants for retention and stability. These are great options for patients with non-restorable teeth or inadequate bone for implants. They are also great for replacing multiple teeth in the most financially feasible manner.
